Pupil Council
The priority of the Carnoustie High School Pupil Council is to represent the voice of the pupil body. We periodically gather the views of pupils throughout the year, using surveys and focus groups.
We meet a minimum of once per week to create action plans to address the issues that our peers identify as most important.
The current Pupil Council team consists of the following:
Hannah Jamieson – Senior Chairperson
Iestyn Hughes – Junior Chairperson
Madison King - Senior Vice-Chairperson
Mya Gillies - Senior Vice-Chairperson
Abigail Muir - Junior Vice-Chairperson
Grace Mudie – Senior Secretary
Erin Geekie – Senior Depute Secretary
Eshal Niazi – Junior Secretary
Melissa Barnes - Ordinary Member
Lana Kearnan – Ordinary Member
Our council works collaboratively with the school’s Senior and Extended Leadership teams to discuss annual School Improvement Plans and any other important business. We also work closely with the school’s UNCRC working group to discuss the best ways to raise awareness of young people’s rights. We create annual newsletters and attend parent council meetings to inform the local community of our progress.
Every year, we are looking for new, enthusiastic pupils that are driven to make our school better for everyone. Applications for positions within the council open in August and are overseen by Dr Mustard.
