P7 Transition

Our feeder primary schools are; Burnside Primary, Carlogie Primary, Woodlands Primary, Monikie Primary and Newbigging Primary.

Our transition programe begins in primary 6 when Transition staff visit the P6 classes in the cluster and give an introductory lesson about P7 transition to Carnoustie High School.

At the start of P7 Transition staff meet all P7s individually and have a chat about their learning needs and answer any questions they already have about moving up.

Transition Timetable:

Sept/Oct - Transition staff deliver lessons about timetables, homework, clubs, uniform, expectations etc.

Nov/Dec - The P7s visit Carnoustie High and get lessons from staff, have break time in the social area and get a tour of the school from school captains/prefects

Jan/Feb - The P7s visit a 2^nd time and have more lessons from staff, have break in the social area and get another tour of the school.

March - S1 pupils have a Q and A session with P7s and answer any questions they have about Carnoustie High

April - Whole cluster Sport event

June - 2 day Induction

Throughout the year Transition staff meet with Primary staff and discuss learning needs of their pupils so all information is collated and High School staff are prepared for their learning needs when they arrive as S1s.
